Former RAF camp is a welcome retreat…
Stanmore Country Park is a green space where people can exercise minds and bodies, children can safely play, and well behaved dogs can run freely. It is a local place for families to enjoy. A real bonus of the site is that it is flat, and the FOS have worked hard with Shropshire County Council to secure grants to create paths that are suitable for individuals with impaired mobility, including providing wheelchair access to picnic benches. Its flat surface and lack of traffic makes it a popular destination for families encouraging children to ride bikes.
Being set within open countryside, the park also links very well with the public rights of way network, forming a useful starting point for walks around the lovely countryside in this part of Shropshire, including into the town of Bridgnorth.
