Friends of Stanmore plan to continue to maintain and develop our local green space for quiet recreation and wildlife habitat biodiversity for future generations. FOS will continue to work alongside Shropshire Council to manage the park with plans to manage the woodland and grassland areas to build diversity for invertebrates, birds and small mammals and encourage growth and maturity of existing trees.

Volunteer Dates 2025

The ongoing work includes careful woodland and grassland management as well as general parks maintenance. Tasks include:

  • Glade and ride creation to improve biodiversity
  • Tree coppicing
  • Strimming undergrowth
  • Hay raking and strewing to maintain grasslands
  • Wildflower spaces preparation
  • Hedgerow maintenance
  • Maintaining fencing
  • Path improvements
  • Bench maintenance
  • Bird box recording, cleaning and repair
  • Litter picking
  • Litter bin repair and installation
