Friends of Stanmore plan to continue to protect our local green space for recreation, wildlife habitat and heritage for future generations. FOS will continue to work alongside Shropshire Council to manage the park with plans to open additional areas within the park to create glades to build diversity including spring flowers and encourage growth and maturity of existing trees.
The ongoing work includes careful woodland and grassland management as well as general parks maintenance. Tasks include:
- Glade and ride creation to improve biodiversity
- Tree coppicing
- Strimming undergrowth
- Hay raking and strewing to maintain grasslands
- Wildflower spaces preparation
- Hedgerow maintenance
- Maintaining fencing
- Path improvements
- Bench maintenance
- Bird box recording, cleaning and repair
- Litter picking
- Litter bin repair and installation
